Carpool details:

Meet at the UW Newman Center at 5:45 AM, and we will depart at 6:00 AM. The drive is about 3 hours, and we should arrive back at 5 pm.

Details about Artist Point:

It's 4.0 miles round trip with 1000 ft of elevation gain. Expect 1-1.5 hours of hiking to the mass spot. 45 Minutes to 1 hour of hiking back to the parking lot. Please be aware that trail conditions will be variable. It could be soft, punchy snow and snowshoes could be critical. Please note that this is an extra piece of equipment that attaches to your boot.

What to bring:

Please dress accordingly with waterproof boots/shoes, appropriate pants (not jeans), wool socks, hat/toque, gloves, waterproof jacket, and layers. Bring plenty of water, a snack, a lunch, snowshoes, and trekking poles.

You are responsible for bringing your own snowshoes. If you do not own a pair of snowshoes, you can easily rent one from REI, or from UW school.

NEED ADVICE ON HOW TO SNOWSHOE? REI has some for you: https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/snowshoeing-first-steps.html

We will reassess the weather and trail conditions a couple of days before the hike and email if we switch to a different (but similar) hike.
